An elopement is an intimate wedding experience focused on the two of you – and maybe a couple of loved ones. It’s not a smaller version of a typical wedding – instead, a more relaxed approach to getting married with less pressure, fewer logistics, more connection and MORE FUN!

Looking for the best spots to elope in Newcastle? You’ve come to the right place. As a couple of born and bred locals, we’re in the know with all of the best places to elope. Beach lovers? Why not try Susan Gilmore beach on low tide (it’s a hidden gem, trust us!) or, if icons are more your style, Merewether Ocean Baths and the Redhead shark tower are always winners.
If Inner City is more your style, try eloping in King Edward Park, Civic Park, outside of City Hall or hidden amongst the terrace houses in Newcastle East.
For bars, cafes and cool little venues, some of the coolest elopement spots in Newcastle include the rooftop at Rogue Scholar, Moneypenny in Honeysuckle, The Beach Hotel, The Owen’s Collective, Earp Distillery or Ground Up Café in Carrington.
But really, if you decide to elope in Newcastle, you are spoilt for choice. You’re welcome to pick our brains on cute little locations, or take us somewhere new. Wherever you choose to elope in Newcastle, be sure to take Wed + Snap with you!.

To be married in Australia, your Notice of Intended Marriage must be submitted to your celebrant at least one calendar month prior to solemnisation (making it official).
A declaration of legal impediment to marriage must be signed as close to practicable before the marriage is solemnised. (we do this on the day)
As part of the Wed + Snapped experience, we sign THREE certificates – one for you (the pretty one), one for me and one for the relevant state registry.
Your celebrant will register your marriage with the relevant Births, Deaths and Marriage – and that’s it, you’re married!
At Wed + Snap, we take care of all the legalities so that you can sit back, relax and focus on the fun.

Wed + Snap is a collaboration between Caitlin Amy Photography and Jaya Bargwanna Celebrant – a duo that have already worked on close to 20 weddings together. Wed + Snap was formed because we work well as a team, which for our couples means;
- Seamless timing with no awkward waiting around
- A relaxes ceremony flow
- Less coordination and organisation for you
- More space for real, candid and FUN moments
We value calm, joyful, genuine energy. Couple’s often tell us it feels like having trusted mates sharing in their day – not just vendors doing their jobs.
We know when to pause, when to move and when to let moments breathe.

The ‘Just Us’ includes a legals only ceremony and involves the legal minimum wording. Think of this as your typical registry office / paperwork style wedding.
The ‘Art of Us’ allows you to choose your vibe – be it short and sweet, romantic, playful or a blend of the above. Jaya will send through a questionnaire to get the down-low on your relationship, chat to you via zoom and curate a ceremony that matches your values, your vibe and your relationship. The upgrade is worth it, we promise!

Most elopements include just the couple, or up to 10 guests depending on council rules. We’ll guide you on what venues and numbers work best for your elopement experience.
